³ And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant^(A) in my household^(B) will be my heir.”

⁹ But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham^(A) was mocking,^{(B) 10} and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman^(C) and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”^(D)

¹¹ The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.^(E)

³⁶ My master’s wife Sarah has borne him a son in her old age,^(A) and he has given him everything he owns.^(B)

⁵ Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.^(A)

⁶ But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines^(A) and sent them away from his son Isaac^(B) to the land of the east.^(C)

²¹ Then Israel said to Joseph, “I am about to die, but God will be with you^[a](A) and take you^[b] back to the land of your^[c] fathers.^(B)
